John Cotton's Smyrna

Opus X

Puff Daddy
Have you ever had any of this?
A friend of mine gifted me a tin that he had gotten from a deal from Pipes & Cigars.
I found it a rather pleasant oriental biased tobacco that was very Turkish forward.
I really wish now that I had opened the tin earlier when you could still buy this as it is now out of production.

Yeah, I kind of regret giving you that tin now!
I didn't think I would like it at first when I tried it, but it did grow on me rather quickly. By the time I got around to deciding to restock the rack I discovered that they no longer offered it. Don't miss it as bad as I do the McClelland stuff, but it was a decent smoke.

I don't mind that you gave it to me. It was a really good smoke.
It is funny how the good stuff seems to be hard/impossible to get. I miss several of the Dunhill lines.

I'm still jonesing over the Frog Morton line. I still have one tin of Frog Morton dated from 10/2016. I've been tempted to pop the top, but I got a feeling I might be able to sell it for substantially more than what I paid for it, especially since it was discontinued in 2018. I also have 2 tins of McClellands 2016 Christmas blend and 1 tin of the 2017 Christmas blend. I did have 2 of them but gave one to a friend.
See a repeating habit there with that type of behavior?

At first I did not like the tin of Frog Morton I had. The vinegar smell/taste was a little off putting. But after resting it some and coming back to it, I really became attached to its unique flavor.

I REALLY miss the Dunhill Aperitif. It was a VERY smooth smoke that had great flavor to it. I purchased 5 tins back years ago and only have 1 of them left now. I am saving it for a special occasion.

It is a shame that Peterson's did not take up more of the Dunhill line. I guess they looked at what seemed to be the top sellers and acquired them and left the rest to rot.
The sample of the Aperitif that you gave me was really enjoyable. I wish I had been able to purchase a few tins back then.

Yes, there are so many of the good old blends that have gone by the wayside. I participate on a few other forums and there are folks complaining of the same thing on them.
Way to many blends got killed by the FDA rules.

I noticed that they have a Latakia out.
I might try buying a tin of it as the other Latakia based that I have smoked I have enjoyed.
